Iceland Airwaves 2017 – Dreaming With One Week Wonder
“This is music to get immersed into, to detach yourself from the stresses of the world.” – Nordic Music Review
One Week Wonder captured our hearts at Ida Zimsen, a tiny bookstore in downtown Reykavik, and we ended up seeing them four times throughout the festival. Their sound, their voices…take me to a place I don’t want to come back from. One of my festival friends called their music a “soul massage” and that’s exactly how Magnus, Arni and Helgi make you feel.
Hailing from Iceland, One Week Wonder is made up of two keyboard players, Árni Guðjónsson and Magnus Benedikt and drummer Helgi. Their amazing chemistry, along with influences like Air, David Bowie, Neil Young & The Who is felt throughout their music.
I can’t believe I didn’t capture more videos of their music but I literally was in another place during their shows – a calm, dreamy, beautiful place – a place I go to every time I listen to their music. Check out the full version of my favorite, Angel Eyes, four minutes and 50 seconds of pure heaven and my other fave, Vestri, sung totally in Icelandic.
